QMEW Q2 RECAP

Out My Closet’s Queer Men’s Empowerment Workshops create space for joy, healing, and truth-telling—centering the lived experiences of queer men of color through monthly, themed gatherings. These aren’t just workshops—they’re lifelines. Each one blends creativity, clinical care, and culture in a sober, affirming space where brotherhood blossoms.
In Quarter 2, we explored spirituality, grief, rebirth, and chosen family. From a floral tea party to a transformative funeral ritual to a playful queer frat takeover, these months reminded us that healing doesn’t have to look one way—it just has to be real.
🌿 APRIL – The Garden Tea Party
This Holy Weekend, our April Queer Men’s Empowerment Workshop blossomed into something truly sacred. In a lush garden filled with laughter, intention, and hand-crafted iced teas, we reflected on faith, healing, and how community helps us bloom through every season.

We held space for real conversations on spirituality, HIV, and personal growth—reminding each other that healing isn’t solitary, it’s shared. To everyone who showed up physically, emotionally, or in spirit—thank you. You make this work matter. You are why we grow. 🌸

🕯️ MAY – Final Destination: While I Am Still Here
Our May Queer Men’s Empowerment Workshop, Final Destination, was not just an event—it was a sacred experience. Together, we held space for truth, grief, release, and rebirth.

From candlelight reflections to writing our legacies on the mirror, we confronted the fragility of life and affirmed our worth in it. This was a funeral for the versions of ourselves that no longer serve us—and a celebration of the men we’re becoming.

To every participant: thank you for your vulnerability, your honesty, and your power. You reminded us that healing happens when we show up fully.
🎉 JUNE – Frat Party: Reclaiming Brotherhood
June’s Queer Men’s Empowerment Workshop brought the house down with Frat Party—a playful and powerful twist on masculine identity. Hosted at a queer-owned space, the workshop combined games, improv challenges, and a show-stopping drag performance that invited joy, trust, and connection.

But behind the fun, we dug deep—unpacking consent, peer pressure, body image, and the often unspoken challenges of queer masculinity. Through laughter and shared experience, we redefined what it means to be part of a brotherhood grounded in accountability, care, and celebration.
